EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: MEET KAMEL ALI, GROUP PORT SERVICE MANAGER AT PATERSON SIMONS
Joining Paterson Simons marked a new chapter in Kamel’s career, offering a unique opportunity to grow within a company that values development and innovation. Kamel’s proficiency in French and Arabic is an asset in his role. Working at Paterson Simons has been a great opportunity to gain knowledge and be part of a company with immense growth potential,” he shares. One of the most surprising aspects of his new role was the critical importance of the port industry and the daily challenges it presents. He was particularly struck by the new technologies being implemented in port equipment to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental protection. “The daily challenges of providing the best service to our customers have been eye-opening,” he says. “And seeing how technology is used to improve port operations is truly inspiring.”
During his time at Paterson Simons, Kamel has overseen several key achievements, including the development of the company’s remote diagnostic capabilities. Leveraging Konecranes’ TRUCONNECT system, the team can now remotely access machines, guide customers through troubleshooting, and even provide software upgrades remotely. “This has enhanced our ability to support customers more efficiently and has significantly improved our after-sales service,” Kamel says. Additionally, the technical proficiency of the team has grown through a combination of face-to-face and online training, strengthening their capabilities and improving overall service efficiency. He also highlights the improvements made to the warranty process, resulting in faster, more effective resolutions for clients. Visiting customers and assisting them in finding solutions to their challenges remains one of the most rewarding aspects of his role. “Being part of their development and helping them grow is incredibly fulfilling,” Kamel says.
Outside of work Kamel is motivated by the opportunity to explore new countries and immerse himself in different cultures. A fan of football, particularly the Premier League, he finds enjoyment in watching matches during his downtime.
He describes the culture at Paterson Simons as collaborative and supportive, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. For young engineers looking to progress within the company, his advice is: “Learn something new every day, challenge yourself, and dream big. There’s no limit to what you can achieve.”
