PASICO GHANA & KONECRANES PROUDLY SUPPORT KORLE-BU TEACHING HOSPITAL IN GHANA!

Pasico Ghana & Konecranes recently supported Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital’s Breast Cancer Unit, by purchasing an Ultrasound Scanner for the Hospital.

Ultrasound scanners are non-invasive, safe, affordable diagnostic tools. In breast cancer care, they are crucial for the early detection and diagnosis of breast tumours.

The presentation of this Medical Equipment recently took place at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. This donation from Paterson Simons & Konecranes formed part of the Pink October Golf Tournament and fundraiser, which is an Achimota Golf Club ladies initiative to assist the Breast Cancer Awareness and support the Breast Cancer Unit at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The fundraising by the Achimota Golf Club yielded over GH¢180,000 to help the lady golfers source the equipment for the Cancer Unit. The club’s involvement, particularly through the Pink October Golf Tournament, highlights how sports and community organizations can play a role in supporting health causes.

Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is a public teaching hospital located in the Ablekuma South District in the Accra Metropolitan District of the Greater Accra Region, Ghana.

It is the only public tertiary hospital in the southern part of the country.

Paterson Simons alongside Konecranes, and the support from the Achimota Golf Club are proud to be a part of this meaningful collaboration between the corporate sector and a healthcare institution!

This initiative is a prime example of how different sectors – healthcare, corporate, and community – can collaborate for a common goal, in this case making tangible differences in public health. It not only provides immediate benefits in terms of healthcare infrastructure but also raises awareness about breast cancer, potentially encouraging early screening and detection efforts.

MOBICRANE, KONECRANES & PATERSON SIMONS: A SUCCESS STORY

Mobicrane is a family-owned business with well over two decades of experience renting out lifting equipment in Ghana, Western Africa. In the coastal town of Takoradi, they provide cranes and lift trucks mostly to mining, oil and gas, and construction companies. As these companies have expanded their operations, rental equipment has offered flexibility in a rapidly changing economy.

The challenge

Offshore oil requires drilling pipes of various sizes to be transported to oil rigs. The pipes are made of heavy steel that can withstand the pressure of being thousands of meters under the sea or under the ground. In addition, general cargo for offshore operations must be moved on and off transport. Traditionally, cranes are used for this task, but securing and lifting non-standard loads safely with a crane is a slow process.

The solution

Mobicrane, in cooperation with Paterson Simons & Co. (Africa) Ltd., has put five Konecranes SMV 16-1200 C forklifts into service for oil pipe yard work and general cargo.
